Six Flags Over Georgia, a leading theme park about 17 km west of Atlanta, in Georgia, has announced the launch of a new roller coaster at the park which features the world’s first free-spinning gondola that offers unique thrills to riders.

In a press statement, the park operator says that its exciting new attraction promises to take park thrills to the next level and on Saturday, the park will officially open its gates for the 2025 season with Opening Day festivities. Among them will be an invitation to guests to experience the latest attraction, Georgia Gold Rusher, which it says is a revolutionary new roller coaster that marks a significant milestone for the theme park.

“As the park’s 12th coaster and the world’s first free-spinning gondola coaster, this attraction represents our team’s commitment to delivering unmatched thrills, immersive entertainment and lifelong memories. With a new roller coaster and a multitude of enhancements throughout the park, this season will build on our park legacy, bringing new energy and excitement for our loyal fans and future park guests,” says Greg Fuller, General Manager, Six Flags Over Georgia.

The statement adds that designed to offer a one-of-a-kind ride experience, Georgia Gold Rusher is the first attraction to boast free-spinning gondola seating, ensuring that no two trips over the track feel the same. It says that riders will be launched back and forth along a 180 m U-shaped track, reaching speeds of 96 kmph and rising to 44 m in the air. The park operator says that the roller coaster features seven “airtime” moments, including three gravity-defying moments on gravity stall ramps and four weightless sensations on its central hill.

Six Flags Over Georgia has renovated its offer for the new season

The statement adds that drawing inspiration from Georgia’s historic 1800s gold rush, the roller coaster also incorporates dynamic water features and detailed thematic elements that showcase Six Flags Over Georgia’s commitment to immersive storytelling and enhancing the guest experience. This season, the park will introduce a range of thematic upgrades and improvements designed to bring new energy and excitement to its visitors.

Beyond its thrilling new ride, Six Flags Over Georgia says it is making significant upgrades across the theme park to enhance visitors’ enjoyment. Three new dining concepts, refreshed food options and improved service operations are among the highlights. A newly appointed executive chef will lead a revamped culinary programme, introducing fresh menu selections to elevate the park’s dining scene.

The 2025 season is also packed with an exciting lineup of events. The park will operate on weekends from March 15 through May 18, with daily openings during Spring Break from April 5 to April 13. The Hurricane Harbor water park is set to welcome visitors starting May 24. Fans can also look forward to new and returning special events, including the debut of Summerbration from May 31–July 29 and reprisal of the beloved Holiday in the Park from November 22–January 4.
