Cherry Blossom Festival will run from March 20 to April 13, with peak bloom expected between March 28 and March 31
The capital of the United States, Washington, DC has announced organisation of two major upcoming events, namely the National Cherry Blossom Festival and WorldPride 2025. While the Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates the city’s iconic spring blooms and cultural ties with Japan, WorldPride 2025 will spotlight LGBTQ+ pride and inclusivity, making the capital a hub of vibrant festivities and global unity.
According to the press statement, the Cherry Blossom Festival will run from March 20 to April 13, with peak bloom expected between March 28 and March 31.
It adds that the events include the Blossom Kite Festival on March 29, Petalpalooza on April 5, and the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade on April 12.
The statement adds that WorldPride 2025, is also scheduled from May 17 to June 8 and will mark 50 years of Pride celebrations in the city.
It adds that the event is expected to attract three million attendees, with highlights including a welcome concert featuring Shakira, a music festival with Jennifer Lopez, the Capital Cup Sports Festival, and an International March and Rally on June 7-8.
According to statement, Washington, DC’s hospitality industry is preparing for both events with hotel packages, restaurant promotions, and themed activations.
It adds that major hotel openings include the Canal House of Georgetown on March 1 and Mint House (spring). New restaurants include Willowsong, Marcus DC, and Minetta Tavern.

It further adds that March is also a significant month for sports in the city. The Washington Nationals’ home opener is on March 27. The Wizards and Capitals are in the final stretch of their seasons, while DC United and the Spirit have opened their respective campaigns. The UFL’s DC Defenders play their first game on March 30.
The statement adds that additional cultural events include the Awesome Con pop culture festival from April 4-6, Filmfest DC from April 24-May 4, and Passport DC throughout May. The National Museum of the American Indian will exhibit gowns worn by Lily Gladstone through March 2026. The National Building Museum will present an exhibition on Southern architecture through 2026.
