As tourism revives with progressive vaccinations across the world, Turkey is focused on India, one of its most promising source markets in the world. In order to get an early start, once Indian tourists actually begin travelling, Turkey recently organised a familiarisation trip for a group of travel agents from western India to Turkey.

The Turkish tourism office first took the group to Antalya, where the group explored the city and the local cuisine. The group stayed in some of the best hotels in the city and visited the Golf courses in Belek region, besides seeing Aspendos Antique Theatre and the land of Legends amusement park. The agents experienced an all-inclusive system of hotels/resorts in which all services such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, local and imported drink, sports activities under a fixed package. In addition to being a FIT destination, the visit to Antalya also helped agents understand its potential and importance as a MICE and wedding destination for the Indian market.

The group then travelled to architectural wonders of Istanbul, the most famous destination in Turkey that is also the bridge between Europe and Asia, situated as it is on the Bosphorous. Istanbul is known for its historical landmarks and is considered one of Turkey’s top tourist destinations. Here the group had a cultural tour with visits to Galata Tower, Beylerbeyi Palace, Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sophia Hippodrom and also experienced Bosphorus boat cruise.

The agents say they were thrilled by the experience. “My trip to Turkiye was phenomenal and it has left me spellbound with its beautiful structures and picturesque locales. In the true sense of it, it is very well described that ‘the beauty of a landscape resides in its melancholy,” says Siddhesh Sood, founder and CEO, Rapidluxe, Mumbai.

“It was a true travel experience in this Covid-19 period as it was a very well-organised trip. For me Turkiye was mesmerising, enchanting and awe-inspiring. The more you speak about Turkiye the less it will be to define the grandeur of the country, with some of the most beautiful landscapes, heritage sites, marvellous mosques, and one of the seven wonders in the world, there are a plethora of things to do in Turkiye for all age group. The trip has given me first-hand experience which will help me to promote the country!” says Sachin Jain, founder, Skyline Travels, Mumbai.

The country is the home of unique nature, culture’ and deep-rooted historical and religious prestige, which reflects in its world heritage sites, recognized by UNESCO. It also offers diverse cuisine and entertainment options, along with world-class hotel and transportation services and popular tourist sites while drawing attention to the emerging trends of adventure tourism, faith tourism and the country as a trending wedding destination.
