Tourism Western Australia conducts fam trip for Indian DMCs

Indian DMCs participated in unique experiences like the being at the top of Optus Stadium in Perth

Tourism Western Australia recently took 10 Destination Management Companies on a familiarisation trip to the destination to promote the region in Indian market. The Indian professionals discovered the myriad wonders of the largest Australian state, from the serene wine fields of Margaret River to spotting quokkas in the Rottnest Island, many of which feature in the Drive the Dream campaign by noted cricketer Adam Gilchrist.

Tourism Western Australia, the tourism promotion organisation of the largest state in Australia, recently conducted a week-long educational and familiarisation trip for 10 Destination Management Companies (DMC).

In a press statement, Tourism Western Australia says that the group had an opportunity to discover many of the region’s top attractions during the visit. Incidentally, many of the sites that figured on the fam trip are also the highlights of the Drive the Dream, the latest promotional campaign launched by Tourism Western Australia, featuring legendary Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist.

The statement says that the tour included Perth, the capital of Western Australia and many of the attractions that are within a day-trip from Perth.

These include the premium wine region Margaret River, the leading wine producing area in the state and which is also the largest with Geographical Indication protection for its wines that are noted for their Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Another highlight of the fam trip and Gilchrist’s campaign is the lunar-like landscape at the Pinnacles, which is noted for its dark sky and a favourite for astronomers, both amateurs and professionals. In the day time, the Pinnacles offers various adventure activities.

The DMCs also discovered Western Australia’s oldest wine region Swan Valley, as well as the historic port city of Fremantle. Another key part of the visit was the exploration of the dreamlike island paradise of Rottnest Island, which is noted for its unique marsupial, quokkas, that are only found on the island and in the neighbouring coastal areas of Western Australia.

The board says that besides discovering the numerous attractions of Western Australia, the Indian delegates also had an opportunity for a one-on-one meeting and networking event with Western Australia operators to explore business prospects and establish new avenues for business in in the region.
