The highlight of the 2025 Michelin Guide California that was unveiled recently, is the addition of two more restaurants in the state to have gained Three Stars, along with recognition for 548 restaurants in all.

This year’s Michelin Guide California ceremony was marked by celebration as the 2025 selection was unveiled. Two new restaurants in the state achieved the three Michelin Stars, namely Providence in Hollywood, which was promoted from Two Stars and Somni in West Hollywood, which entered the guide directly with Three Stars.

According to a press statement by Visit California, the tourism promotion organisation of the state, Enclos in Sonoma entered the selection with Two Stars and and Kiln in San Francisco was promoted from One Star to Two Stars. The guide also saw the addition of five new One Star restaurants, bringing the total number of One Star establishments in California to 65.

The statement adds that in recognition of their commitment to sustainable gastronomy, Enclos and Sons & Daughters in San Francisco were each awarded a Michelin Green Star.

“Tonight marked a momentous evening for California and its culinary community. Our anonymous inspectors discovered extraordinary culinary gems to highlight in this year’s selection, including two new Three Star restaurants, Providence and Somni. Congratulations to all of the chefs and restaurant teams awarded tonight. We are proud to welcome you all into the Michelin Guide family,” says Gwendal Poullennec, International Director, Michelin Guide.

The complete 2025 selection features 548 establishments, encompassing Bib Gourmands and recommended venues, and represents 55 different types of cuisine, says the statement.
