Sri Lanka to organise multi-city roadshow in India

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) will organise a series of roadshows in western India next week

Days after it hosted a large Indian delegation for the Southern MICE Expo in Bentota in southern part of the country, Sri Lanka Tourism is back in India for a multi-city roadshow, which will coincide with the Indian launch of its global campaign, ‘You’ll come back for more!’.

With the objective to promote the destination in its largest source market, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) will organise a series of roadshows in western India next week.

According to a press statement, the two organisations will host a B2B roadshow and a networking evening in Indore on June 10, Vadodara on June 12 and Surat on June 14 to promote Sri Lanka as a year-round destination for all segments of tourists. The statement adds that the intention of this event is to attract more visitors from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat by highlighting the country’s diverse tourism offerings to its key markets in India.

According to the statement, the Sri Lankan delegation for the roadshow will be led by Minister for Tourism, Lands, Sports and Youth Affairs of Sri Lanka, Harin Fernando, along with General Manager of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau Krishantha Fernando. Over 40 stakeholders from the tourism sector will also join the Sri Lankan delegation and will include Destination Management Companies for leisure and MICE, leading hotels, resorts and homestays, tour operators and other service providers from Sri Lanka. The industry stakeholders will engage in B2B interactions with their industry peers in each city, adds the statement.

This series of B2B roadshow will provide an opportunity to highlight the country’s vision, new tagline and the future tourism development plans.

According to the statement, Sri Lanka Tourism has set an ambitious target of drawing 2.5 million tourists in 2024 and to reach this goal, the country has launched a 360° global marketing campaign You’ll come back for more!.

The statement adds that Sri Lanka has made a significant impression by promoting its attractions and tourist spots at the leading international meeting platforms, such as Arabian Travel Mart in Dubai. In addition, to emphasise the importance of the global travel industry, a roadshow was held in three cities Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne in Australia, as well as in Turkiye.
