South East and South Asia, along with Africa and the Americas, are the new hotspots for tourism in 2025, says a report by Mabrian, a data intelligence company.
In a press statement, Mabrian that that it has analysed the current travel trends and identified the most sought-after destinations by travellers in the first half of 2025.
The data intelligence also highlights Oceania’s major comeback, pushed by Australia and New Zealand, while in Europe, Madrid, Rome, and Lisbon show notable growth in international demand.
Mabrian says that the analysis covers 72.5 pc of global travel demand, weighs inspirational demand inter-annual growth with overall flight searches quota corresponding to world regions and destinations to provide an accurate forecast.
The statement adds that Southeast Asia, featuring coveted destinations including Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam, represent 13.5 pc of international inspirational demand in the semester analysed and Eastern Asia, including Japan, South Korea, and China, is equivalent to 12.6 pc while neighbour region of Southern Asia, home to destinations like India, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, accounts for 6.5 pc.
“Asian regions show a powerful search trend for the first half of this year, stronger than other regions around the world, which anticipates robust arrivals figures for the coming months,” says Carlos Cendra, Partner and Director of Marketing and Communications, Mabrian.
According to the statement, the analysis also takes into account flight searches volume and inter-annual growth. With respect to this parameter, the destinations that see a stronger surge in world’s inspirational demand in the first six months of 2025 are Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand, ranking first and third, respectively, Delhi at 5th and Mumbai at 10th place in India, Manila in the Philippines at 9th position, the Indonesian island of Bali at 7th and Hanoi in Vietnam at 11th place.
Among the eastern destinations, Tokyo in Japan and Seoul in South Korea also showed a robust demand trend.
According to Mabrian’s expert, the Search of Searches Index performance among these Australia and New Zealand “is signalling a positive outlook for Oceania, which has been in the path to post-pandemic recovery for the last two years”. The inspirational demand for the region is rising to over 3 pc of the global total.
The rise in this demand for Australia’s Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, as well as for Auckland in New Zealand, is said to be remarkable, compared to last year’s same period.
The statement adds that results of the Americas’ Share of Searches Index for the first semester of 2025 also indicate a positive demand trend for key destinations across the continent. North America ranks fifth among the fastest-growing regions in terms of international inspirational demand, accounting for 5.6 pc of the global total, while Latin America and the Caribbean capture 2.5 pc of international inspirational demand during the period studied.
In North America, cities like Los Angeles, Miami and Orlando, all in the United States, are among the world’s most demanded destinations. In Latin America, Cancun in Mexico, Buenos Aires in Argentina, Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro, Punta Cana in Dominican Republic, and San Jose in Costa Rica experienced a significant growth in demand.
Europe that accounts for 17.2 pc of the world’s international inspirational demand, even though it is not among the top growing regions with three urban hotspots Madrid, Spain, and Lisbon in Portugal, and Rome in Italy securing a spot in world’s top growing destinations list.
