The e-arrival card can be submitted through the official website before arrival and up until immigration inspection
Foreign travellers entering South Korea can now submit their arrival cards online up to three days before arrival. The Ministry of Justice has announced the launch of the Korea Electronic Arrival Card, replacing paper-based forms with a digital system accessible via a computer or smartphone.
In a press statement, South Korea Tourism Board says that by introducing the e-arrival card it aims to enhance border control efficiency while simplifying the entry process for international visitors.
It adds that travellers planning trips should ensure they complete this new mandatory requirement in advance to avoid any inconvenience at immigration checkpoints. The statement adds that all foreign visitors on short-term stays of up to 90 days must declare entry.
It further adds that the regulation also applies to those staying longer unless they have completed residence registration. Travellers exempt from this requirement include K-ETA holders, those with foreign residence registration, individuals on group visas, and airline crew.
The Tourism Board says that the e-arrival card can be submitted through the official website before arrival and up until immigration inspection. Once issued, the card remains valid for 72 hours.
It adds that to apply, travellers must access the official portal, agree to the terms and conditions, upload a scanned copy of their passport, and enter essential travel details such as arrival and departure information, purpose of visit, accommodation details and contact information.
