To support the regional tourism and business events sector, South African Tourism and the Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille, have announced the official dates for the 2026 editions of Meetings Africa and Africa’s Travel Indaba, two tourism trade shows owned by the country’s tourism body.

In a press statement, South Africa’s tourism department says that Meetings Africa is scheduled to take place from February 23 to 25, next year, with the Business opportunity networking day scheduled on February 23.

It adds that Africa’s Travel Indaba will be held from May 11 to 14, 2026, with the Business opportunity networking day scheduled on May 11.

“These are not just dates, they are important milestones in our continent’s tourism and business events calendar,” says Patricia de Lille, Tourism Minister, South Africa.

South African Tourism says that Meetings Africa continues to serve as a business events trade show, which aims to strengthen partnerships across the African continent. Additionally, it also focusses on promoting Africa as a destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE).
The statement says that Africa’s Travel Indaba is a tourism marketing event that brings together tourism products, services, and stakeholders from across the continent.

South Africa’s tourism department adds that both trade shows contribute to addressing unemployment, driving economic impact, and expanding market access, particularly for smaller enterprises, supporting long-term sector development and inclusive economic participation.

As per statement, the tourism body is also conducting a competitive bidding process to appoint host cities for both events from 2026 for the next five years. The process is expected to allow the events to adapt and increase their impact for all participants.
