Saudia tops global airline punctuality with 89.53 pc on-time arrivals: Cirium

Saudia recorded a total of 89.53 pc on-time arrivals by a total of 195,072 flights

Global aviation witnessed notable improvements in on-time performance (OTP) in March 2025, according to Cirium’s latest monthly report, even as flight cancellations rose by 13 pc globally. The report tracked performance across airlines and airports, with Saudia emerging as the leader with 89.53 pc on-time arrivals.

Cirium, an aviation analytics company, released its on time performance monthly report which highlights that airlines and airports showcased improvements in on-time performance despite a 13 pc increase in flight cancellations, with a total of 46,486 flights cancelled worldwide.

The report adds that Saudia emerged on top with a total of 89.53 pc on-time arrivals by a total of 195,072 flights. The Asia-Pacific region recorded 82.82 pc on-time arrivals on 189,562 flights with Garuda Indonesia (GA) taking the lead, recording a total of 85.81 pc on-time arrivals.

The report adds that amongst North American Airlines Delta led with 82.80 pc on-time arrivals closely followed by United Airlines recording 82.53 pc arrivals. Overall, the region saw about 79 pc on-time arrivals on a total of 755,307 flights tracked.

North America also recorded the maximum number flight cancellations with a total of 9,554 cancellations in March followed by Middle East and Africa which noted 2,613 cancellations in the same period.

In Europe, SAS emerged as the new leader, achieving a strong on-time performance of 91.92 pc with the region recording a total of 88.98 pc arrivals on 121,486 flights tracked. The most on-time Latin American airline was Copa with 91.80 pc on-time arrivals on about 9,984 flights.

The region overall recorded an on-time performance of 85.13 pc, says the report.

According to the report, in the Middle-East and Africa region, Royal Jordanian is the new with an impressive OTP of 94.36 pc.

Among the airports, Riyadh King Khalid International Airport (RUH) emerged as a leader in OTP, with a total of 93.92 pc on time departures closely followed by Istanbul Airport (IST) recording 91.89 pc on-time departures.

The most on-time small airport in March 2025 was Rhodes Diagoras International Airport (RHO) with a total of 95.78 pc on time departures on 638.
