Saudi Arabia is intensifying its engagement with the Indian travel trade, launching strategic initiatives across key tourism segments
Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) is strengthening its engagement with India’s travel industry through exclusive networking events. Held in Bengaluru and Mumbai, these gatherings brought together key players from travel trade associations and online travel agencies.
In a press statement, STA says that the initiative aimed to strengthen partnerships, explore new opportunities, and position Saudi Arabia as a preferred destination for Indian travellers.
It adds that Saudi is targetting India’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE), destination weddings, and Group Inclusive Tours (GIT) markets.
STA says that a recent familiarisation trip allowed Indian travel professionals to experience Saudi’s tourism infrastructure, highlighting its venues, accommodations, and services for large-scale events and celebrations.

It adds that Saudi continues to position itself as a destination for international sporting events. Since 2018, it has hosted over 100 global sports competitions, including Formula 1 and major boxing events.

At SATTE 2025 in New Delhi, STA reinforced the country’s position as a growing destination, showcasing its tourism offerings and connectivity to Indian travellers.
According to the statement, Saudi is set to host the World Rally Championship, FIBA Basketball Asia Cup, Esports World Cup, and FIFA World Cup 2034. The expansion of sports tourism aligns with India’s growing interest in global sporting events, offering opportunities for Indian travellers.
It adds that Saudi’s focus on accessibility includes a 13.4 pc increase in weekly inbound flights from India as of February, with further growth expected this year.
It further adds that seven airlines operate between India and Saudi, including Saudia, Flynas, IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, SpiceJet and Akasa Air.
STA says that Indian travellers holding a valid Schengen, UK, or US visa can now access streamlined visa procedures at 11 Tasheer Centres across India.
STA says that India remains a vital market in Saudi’s tourism growth and Vision 2030.
