Palau, also known as Belau, comprises over 300 islands within Micronesia
Palau, an island nation in the Pacific, has announced a 30-day visa-free entry scheme for Indian citizens, signalling a new chapter in bilateral relations and tourism diplomacy between the two nations.
According to a press statement by Palau Tourism, the move, effective immediately, is expected to significantly boost Indian tourist arrivals to the idyllic Pacific island country, renowned for its breathtaking marine biodiversity, pristine landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
The statement adds that Palau, also known as Belau, comprises over 300 islands within Micronesia. The country is famed for its UNESCO-listed Rock Islands, world-class dive sites like Blue Corner and Jellyfish Lake and a wealth of World War II relics.

“Indian travellers are looking for new and offbeat destinations. With connectivity options through airlines like United, China Airlines, Qantas, Japan Airlines, Nauru Airlines and Hong Kong Airlines, Palau is fast becoming one of the most sought-after destinations for Indian tourists,” says Neeraj A Sharma, Consul General of Palau to India.
Additionally, Indian travellers can now explore Palau’s wonders without the hassle of prior visa arrangements, enjoying up to 30 days of stay.
The statement adds that the initiative is part of Palau’s broader strategy to promote sustainable tourism and foster closer ties with India, following similar moves by other regional countries such as the Philippines.
According to the statement, improved connectivity via major Southeast Asian hubs, including Manila, Taipei and Seoul, makes Palau increasingly accessible and the upcoming launch of Air India’s direct flights to the Philippines will open a promising new gateway through Manila.
