In order to build its growth momentum in India and position itself as a ‘top-tier destination for Indian travellers seeking luxury, culture, and adventure,’ the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman recently organised a four-city India Roadshow.
According to a press statement by the Oman Tourism Board, the roadshow commenced with a strategic press conference in New Delhi, followed by a grand promotional tour across key Indian cities, including Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru.
It says that this event showcased Oman’s many offerings, featuring 18 prominent players from the private sector, including leading luxury hotels and airlines, all eager to introduce their finest offerings to the discerning Indian market.
The statement adds that at the heart of Oman’s appeal is its array of world-class luxury accommodations, which is vividly highlighted during the event.
It adds that from the opulent palaces of Muscat to serene beachfront resorts and boutique desert camps, Oman offers Indian travellers an exquisite range of lodging options.
The newly opened St Regis Muscat adds a touch of modern elegance to this portfolio, offering unparalleled service and amenities that blend luxury with local charm.
The statement adds that some properties are known for their regal splendour, while others showcase a minimalist design influenced by traditional Omani architecture, highlighted as must-visit sanctuaries for those seeking the pinnacle of comfort and elegance.
According to the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Azzan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of Tourism, Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Sultanate of Oman, underscored the importance of the Indian market, noting that India ranks as Oman’s second-largest source market.
The ministry says that in 2023, Indian visitor numbers soared past 625,000, a growth of over 70 pc compared to the previous year. This momentum continued with the first five months of 2024 already seeing a 15 pc increase in arrivals.
The statement adds that the growth has also been fuelled by the direct flights from more than 10 Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru.
It says that flight duration of just 3.5 hours and over 100 weekly flights operated by numerous Indian and Omani airlines, such as Oman Air, Salam Air, Vistara, Indigo and Air India Express, make Oman a convenient choice for luxury travellers.
The roadshow spotlighted activities, such as private paragliding sessions, kite surfing on secluded beaches, guided mountain biking trails, and exclusive caving expeditions.
Snorkelling in crystal-clear waters and camping in bespoke setups under the stars are a few of the experiences that Oman offers.
The statement adds that the event also highlighted Oman’s pristine beaches that host the annual Green Turtle migration, a natural wonder that can be experienced in comfort and style.
The statement adds that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism announced plans to further enhance Oman’s appeal in India through residential workshops, consumer promotions and luxury brand campaigns.
These initiatives are designed to elevate Oman’s status as a premier destination and ensure it remains the top choice for Indian travellers seeking a luxurious escape.
