In order to gain a greater share of arrivals from India, the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) recently organised a series of roadshows in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata to promote itself.

According to a press statement by the MTPA, the events were led by a delegation of 22 partners from Mauritius to showcase the destination and their respective products to about 100 tour operators and agencies from the three cities.

The statement adds that the roadshow series was started on September 2 in Bengaluru with a press conference addressed by Arvind Bundhun, Director, MTPA. This was followed by events in Hyderabad and Kolkata.

“These roadshows are part of our elaborate strategy for highlighting Mauritius’ diverse tourism offerings in major Indian cities. We have chosen these cities based on the travel potential and multiple segments of travellers present in each city. The collaborations fostered and insights derived will help us cater to the demands of Indian travellers more strongly,” says Bundhun on the success of the three-city event.

MTPA says that the island attracts a wide range of travellers including leisure, business, honeymooners, adventure lovers, and water sports enthusiasts.

Mauritius is also conveniently accessible from India, thanks to generous direct flight options and a hassle-free visa-on-arrival facility for Indian passport holders.

“The response generated by the roadshows in all three cities has been remarkable, and pivotal to our purpose of promoting Mauritius in key markets. As a destination with breathtaking visual and sensory offerings, Mauritius can become the ultimate holiday paradise for Indian travellers. The goal of these events is to emphasise this very potential,” says Sunil Mathapati, Country Manager, MTPA India.
