Morocco welcomed 7.5 million tourists globally in the first semester of 2024, representing a 15 pc increase
Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) says Morocco has registered a 41 pc year-on-year growth in the number of Indian visitors until June 2024.
According to a press statement by MNTO, this milestone comes within the first year of its operations in India. The statement adds that it expects a year-on-year growth of 45 pc by the end of 2024.
The statement says that Morocco welcomed 7.5 million tourists globally in the first semester of 2024, representing a 15 pc increase. The target for the whole year is set at 15.5 million tourists from around the world.
As part of its strategic objectives in India, MNTO aims to attract 100,000 Indian visitors by 2026.
MNTO says that over the past year, it has been actively engaging with the Indian travel industry and media. Recent roadshows in Delhi and Mumbai have been pivotal, fostering strong relationships with numerous tour operators and inviting esteemed media partners.
These events have played a crucial role in raising awareness about Morocco as a premier travel destination.
MNTO says it has marked its presence among various events to build its presence in the Indian market, including its debut at OTM 2024, where its participation allowed MNTO to further strengthen its presence in the Indian market.
The statement adds that MNTO had also recently organised a trade FAM trip, providing firsthand experiences of Morocco’s unique offerings to key tour operators among Indian travel professionals.

As part of its strategic plans for this year, MNTO is focussing on Morocco’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) capabilities. The office is targeting MICE companies to highlight Morocco’s potential as a premier destination for international business events.
“Morocco is a promising destination for Indian tourists. It is encouraging to see Indian travellers, whether with family or solo, exploring the destination. With multiple trade engagements planned, Morocco has significant potential to attract honeymooners, MICE, and celebrations. In the coming months, we will accelerate our efforts in the Indian market, with plans to tap into the film industry for future collaborations,” says Jamal Kilito, Country Manager, MNTO India.
The statement adds that MNTO works to enhance the country’s image and attract tourists from around the world by marketing Morocco’s rich culture, diverse landscapes, and vibrant cities. It also collaborates with international travel agencies, media partners and other stakeholders to boost tourism and support sustainable travel initiatives within Morocco.
