Miray Cruises recently announced its acquisition of a new ship that will take guests on the world’s longest voyage, beginning later this year.
In a press statement, the Istanbul-based line announced the launch of its MV Gemini replacement MV Lara that is set to be the industry’s first three-year world cruise. The ship will be launched on November 1, marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic.
The statement says that the expedition will cover over 210,000 km over three years and stop at 382 ports in 148 nations, including the Antarctic continent. Along with many UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the itinerary also includes visits to the 13 Wonders of the World. It goes on to say that several of the sites feature overnight stays and many days in port to enable deeper exploration.
“We are beyond excited to introduce the beautiful MV Lara for this incredible, history-making, 3-year voyage. Our fleet is expanding due to the unprecedented demand for our long-duration circumnavigation voyages to responsibly explore every corner of our planet. Our residents are changing their lives for this opportunity, and we are honoured to be a part of their personal journeys,” says Kendra Holmes, CEO of Miray Cruises.
According to the statement, the ship offers different stateroom designs, a business center with private offices, a bar, medical facilities, a lecture series and voluntourism and philanthropic opportunities onboard.
