“We are excited to honour and celebrate the talented culinary community of the American South in just a few months. South Carolina is home to southern staples, fresh seafood and a homegrown culinary community full of passion and innovation, making it the perfect place to celebrate the region’s culinary talents. Our anonymous Inspectors look forward to finally sharing their discoveries with the world,” says Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide.
The statement adds that the selection of Greenville as the host city underscores South Carolina’s rich culinary heritage, which is deeply rooted in homegrown and authentic ingredients.
Additionally, the state’s vibrant food culture, shaped by generations of chefs and farmers, made it the ideal backdrop for the first-ever regional Michelin Guide ceremony in North America.
According to the statement, this event will not only celebrate the region’s gastronomic excellence but also highlight the diversity and creativity of Southern chefs and restaurants.
The statement adds that attendees at the invitation-only event will include chefs eager to learn whether their establishments have been awarded a coveted Michelin Star or another guide distinction.
It adds that the ceremony is part of Michelin’s ongoing commitment to promoting the gastronomy players of tomorrow and showcasing the unique flavours found across its destinations.
Additionally, the 2025 guide will cover Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and the pre-existing Atlanta Guide.
