Tripadvisor, a travel guidance platform, has announced that London, the capital of the United Kingdom, climbed two places to secure the crown at the 2025 Travellers’ Choice Awards.

In a press statement, TripAdvisor says that this change reflects the most trusted recommendations from millions of traveller reviews, showcasing London’s enduring appeal and impact on global tourism.

It adds that London also ranks second in Food Destinations and third in Culture Destinations worldwide. It adds that London was named first in Tripadvisor’s 25th anniversary list, recognised as the top destination of the past 25 years based on traveller reviews.

Tripadvisor says that New York City tops the list of destinations in the United States and ranks in the top Food Destinations. Other popular spots include O’ahu, the Florida Keys, Chicago, Las Vegas, New Orleans and Washington DC.

It adds that Osaka in Japan, known for its food scene, shopping, and nightlife, is the leading trending destination for 2025, based on year-on-year review growth.

It further adds that Osaka also offers easy access to UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kansai region. Kuala Lumpur, capital of  Malaysia, ranks second with Buenos Aires, the Argentinian capital in the third spot.

The statement adds that the US Trending Destinations include coastal spots like West Palm Beach and Santa Barbara, mountain destinations like Denver and Park City, and rising cities in the Midwest such as Cleveland and Kansas City. Nearby locations like Memphis and Brooklyn are also gaining popularity.

Tripadvisor adds that it reviews millions of traveller reviews annually to highlight the most trusted recommendations. The Travellers’ Choice Awards cover seven categories, including Top, Trending, Culture, Food and Honeymoon Destinations. This year, Tripadvisor has introduced two new subcategories, namely Solo Travel Destinations and a special 25th anniversary list honouring the Top Destinations of the Last 25 Years.
