The Sumo Hall Hirakuza Osaka has officially launched and is now open to public on the 8th floor of Namba Parks in the vibrant Namba district of Osaka.
In a press statement Japan National Tourism Organisation says that real estate developer Hanshin Contents Link Corporation created this new entertainment destination in the city to offer an immersive sumo entertainment experience.
It blends traditional Japanese culture with modern entertainment in order to provide opportunities for inbound visitors to experience Japanese traditions and for the country to gain greater traction in tourism opportunities.
This new venue is easily accessible from Namba Station, the statement adds.
JNTO says that as of 2023, inbound travel to Japan has increased to roughly 80 pc of pre-pandemic levels, largely due to the growing interest of consumers in experiencing new things, particularly Japan’s distinctive traditional culture and food.
To cater to this market demand, Hanshin Contents Link Corporation says it had decided to open Sumo Hall Hirakuza Osaka to “provide a new experiential spot for foreign tourists to engage with Japanese culture.”
The statement says that visitors can expect experiential sumo shows, with performances by former professional sumo wrestlers, interactive sessions, and photo opportunities.
The experience is a unique blend of sumo, food and entertainment, including traditional bento boxes with options for premium, halal, and vegan meals to offer a cultural fusion, adds the statement.
It says that the new facility also includes state-of-the-art facilities including full-size dohyo or sumo ring, theatre-style seating, advanced video, lighting, and sound systems and a gift shop that offers sumo merchandise and Japanese souvenirs.
