Boosting India-Jamaica bilateral relations, Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness, recently visited India for the first-ever official visit by a Jamaican PM to India.
In a press statement, the Jamaica Tourist Board says that the historic visit strengthened ties between the two nations, expanding cooperation in multiple sectors, including technology, energy, education and security.
The tourism board adds that to further deepen the relations between India and Jamaica, Holness has invited Indian investors to explore business opportunities in Jamaica.
Spotting an opportunity in view of the upcoming wedding season in India, Jamaican Tourism Board has invited Indian wedding stakeholders to discover Jamaica as a destination of choice for weddings.
The board says that Jamaica has solidified its position in the Caribbean as the destination of choice for weddings. As one of the world’s leading wedding and honeymoon destination, Jamaica is an ideal destination and perfect backdrop.
“The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) anticipates that 2024 will mark a milestone year for the island as a premier wedding destination, with an increasing number of visitors selecting Jamaica as the ideal location to exchange vows,” says Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism, Jamaica.
“The unique allure of Jamaica, citing its stunning natural beauty, vibrant culture and warm hospitality are the key factors driving the island’s popularity among couples seeking a memorable wedding experience,” Bartlett adds.
The statement adds that with a strategic focus on enhancing Jamaica’s wedding offerings and services, the government is committed to supporting the growth of the wedding tourism sector.
It says that by leveraging Jamaica’s diverse attractions and world-class amenities, the aim is to position the island as a top choice for couples planning their dream wedding.
The statement adds that the Government of Jamaica, in collaboration with its public bodies and industry stakeholders, recently observed the Tourism Awareness Week (TAW) 2024. Themed “Tourism and Peace: Out of Many, One Love,” this year’s celebration aligned with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation’s global theme for World Tourism Day, which emphasises the role of tourism in fostering peace worldwide.
