Amerigo Vespucci, Italy's renowned naval training ship, which reached Abu Dhabi on Friday, arrives in the United Arab Emirates for the first time in 93 years as part of its 31st World Tour.

The Amerigo Vespucci, a training ship of the Italian Navy on its 31st World Tour, which began on July 1, 2023, is arriving in the United Arab Emirates for the first time in 93 years. The ship will be docked at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal – Zayed Port until December 31.

According to a press statement, the ship will be accompanied by the Villaggio Italia, a mini ‘expo’ dedicated to showcasing Italian values, excellence and supply chains.

The event, hosted in partnership with Experience Abu Dhabi, will also highlight the strong bond between Italy and the United Arab Emirates. The programme features a rich line-up of exhibitions, meetings, music, shows, and opportunities to experience Italian gastronomy.

The statement adds that the opening ceremony of the Villaggio Italia will take place on December 28, with key officials expected to attend, including Lorenzo Fontana, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Maria Tripodi, Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, among others.

The initiative, Vespucci World Tour, Villaggio Italia, propelled by the Guido Crosetto, Minister of Defence, Italy, has already covered Los Angeles, Tokyo, Darwin, Singapore, Mumbai and Doha before Abu Dhabi.

During the stopover in Abu Dhabi, the Amerigo Vespucci ship and the Villaggio Italia will be open to the public free of charge, adds statement.
