Indian women are redefining travel not just as a break, but also as a journey of empowerment and self-discovery. Atlys, a leading visa platform, reports a 22 pc surge in international travel applications from Indian women in the past year.
In a press statement, Atlys says that solo travel accounts for 20.6 pc of applications, with destinations like Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and parts of Europe being popular due to safety, affordability, and cultural appeal.
It adds that group travel makes up 35 pc of applications, driven by milestone celebrations such as bachelorettes, birthdays, and career achievements.

Atlys says that Dubai, Bali, Bangkok, Singapore and Malaysia are preferred for their connectivity and entertainment options.
It adds that 28 pc of applications are linked to experiential travel, including international concerts, retreats, and cultural immersions.
According to Atlys, economic independence is a key factor behind this surge. Younger women under 35 are more inclined toward spontaneous trips, while those aged 35 to 45 plan structured itineraries around work or family.
It adds that across demographics, there is a shift from conventional sightseeing to immersive experiences.
“We are seeing a generation of women who view travel as essential for self-expression and growth. Whether it is a solo journey for cultural immersion or a group trip to celebrate a milestone, these experiences are reshaping how women perceive travel and its role in their lives,” says Mohak Nahta, Founder & CEO, Atlys.
