Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced a significant milestone that the number of Indian tourist arrivals to Thailand has exceeded one million before the halfway point of 2025.

In a press statement, TAT says that by mid-June, over one million Indian visitors had already visited Thailand, marking a steady rise in outbound travel from India and highlighting the robust tourism ties between the two nations.

The statement adds that this milestone follows a record-breaking 2024, when Thailand received more than 35 million international tourists, with Indian arrivals reaching an all-time high of 2.1 million, a nearly 30 pc increase from the previous year.

Additionally, India has now cemented its position as the third-largest tourism market of Thailand after Malaysia and China. TAT says that the diverse tourism offerings of Thailand, from vibrant cities and pristine beaches to spiritual retreats, wellness escapes and a world-renowned culinary scene, continue to resonate with Indian travellers, who appreciate high-quality experiences at competitive prices.

The statement adds that the country’s appeal has been further enhanced by robust air connectivity from cities across India and a visa exemption scheme, introduced in late 2023, which allows Indian travellers to stay for up to 60 days. Innovations such as the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) have also streamlined the arrival process, ensuring quicker processing and greater convenience.

According to the statement, a surge in demand from emerging Indian cities, including Surat, Rajkot, Nagpur and Nashik, which are increasingly contributing to the luxury travel segment with rising premium bookings and bespoke experiences.
