New family-thrill enclosed coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, at EPCOT in Florida takes guests on an intergalactic chase through time and space with the heroes of Guardians of the Galaxy.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind,’ the newly launched family-thrill roller-coaster has been launched as part of the ongoing transformation of EPCOT, a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida. It  is also part of the Walt Disney World 50^th anniversary celebration.

This innovative new attraction, currently the longest fully enclosed coaster in any Disney theme park and in the world, matches the ‘grandiosity’ and fun of the blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy film, featuring the film’s legendary cosmic outlaws – Rocket, Groot, Drax, Gamora and Star-Lord.

Located in the park’s newly renamed World Discovery neighbourhood, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the first ‘other-world’ showcase pavillion at EPCOT named the ‘Wonders of Xander.’ It features three main sections- ‘The Galaxarium,’ which is a sweeping planetarium-style space showcasing planets, stars and other intergalactic wonders that connects ‘Terra’ and ‘Xandar,’ two planets from the film. The Xandarian supercomputer, in the section WorldMind, provides narration in the Galaxarium and gives context to the stunning visuals.

The Xandar Gallery, another section in the pavillion, gives guests more insights about the people, culture, history and heroes of Xandar through specially crafted displays including models of starships and a Xandarian city. The gallery also features excerpts from ‘Good Morning Xandar,’ where a host interviews the Guardians of the Galaxy about their heroic deeds.

The pavillion tour then concludes in the Phase Chamber, where guests are instantly teleported from EPCOT to a Nova Corps Starcharter cruiser orbiting Earth and learn about the Cosmic Generator, a piece of Xandarian technology that creates jump points – artificial tunnels in space allowing for rapid travel across vast distances.

This latest attraction covers more than 18500 sqm and  its main show building stretches longer than an American football field.

Composer Tyler Bates from the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ films has created more than two hours of new music for the attraction’s score.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind offers several ‘firsts’. These include — the first coaster attraction at EPCOT as well as the first reverse launch for a Disney coaster. It is also the first Disney Omnicoaster where vehicles make controlled rotations to always keep guests focused on the action and the first Walt Disney World attraction to feature the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Guests can hunt for Guardians of the Galaxy-themed fashions, accessories, home décor, collectibles and toys at the Treasures of Xandar shop, located at the Wonders of Xandar pavillion.
