Recognising the potential of the Indian outbound market, FITUR 2025, a leading travel and tourism fair held each year in Madrid, will put the spotlight on the Indian market at the next edition that will be organised by IFEMA Madrid from January 22-26, 2025.

According to IFEMA Madrid, with over 80 million passport holders and an estimated outbound tourism expenditure of USD 42 billion in 2024, India ranks among the world’s most promising source markets.

In a press statement, IFEMA says that with India’s growing middle class enjoying higher disposable incomes, combined with the country’s diverse tourism offerings, FITUR 2025 aims to spotlight the immense potential of India’s dynamic outbound market at the event.

It says that Europe, followed by Southeast Asia, is now increasingly becoming an attractive destination for 20 pc of Indian travellers.

Additionally, the ease of access provided by the Schengen visa has made countries like Portugal and Spain increasingly popular among Indian travellers. Boasting a unique blend of history, gastronomy, architecture, and sunshine, these destinations are rapidly becoming preferred choices for Indian tourists.

IFEMA says that the rich cultural heritage and seamless air connectivity through hubs like Istanbul and Dubai have further fuelled interest in the Iberian Peninsula. Indian travel agents, as well as individual travellers, are now favouring this region, particularly for luxury and MICE tourism.

Meanwhile, encouraged by the success of FITUR 2024, which saw strong representation from India, particularly from states like Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, along with participation from 152 countries, the next edition aims to broaden its reach to other Indian regions such as Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Puducherry.

With the growing connection between India and Latin America, driven by the rise in Indian outbound tourism, Latin America is set to participate in the 2025 FITUR event. This platform will play a pivotal role in strengthening ties with key players like India and other participating nations, it says.
