The Expo is a six-month international celebration of innovation, culture and collaboration
More than 524,000 persons visited the much-anticipated Expo 2025 Osaka within a week of its opening at Yumeshima Island in Japan on April 13.
In a press statement, the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), the tourism promotion organisation of the country, says that the Expo is a six-month international celebration of innovation, culture and collaboration.
JNTO says that the event, themed ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’, is expected to attract millions of visitors from Japan and around the globe.
The statement adds that on its opening day, approximately 119,000 people visited the sprawling 155-hectare site, while over 9 million tickets had already been sold as of April 9.

JNTO says that during its first week, the Expo welcomed around 524,000 visitors, setting the stage for a projected total attendance of 28 million by the event’s close on October 13.
According to the statement, the Expo brings together participants from over 150 countries and regions, along with international organisations and leading companies, all showcasing breakthroughs in technology, sustainability and design.
Additionally, at the heart of the venue stands ‘the Grand Ring’, the world’s largest wooden architectural structure, measuring an impressive 2 km in circumference and symbolising the Expo’s concept of ‘Unity in Diversity’.

The statement adds that to streamline entry, organisers have launched ‘Expo Quick’, a new easy ticketing service, making it simpler for visitors to purchase admission and plan their visit.
Moreover, a high-speed vessel ‘Pasona Natureverse Go’ now connects the Expo site with Awaji Island, offering a scenic one-hour journey across Osaka Bay and encouraging exploration of the region’s natural and cultural attractions.
