Brand USA, destination promotion organisation of the United States, has announced its new board of directors for the year 2025, led by Elliott Ferguson, CEO, Destination DC, as Chair of the board.

Elliott Ferguson, Chief Executive Officer of Destination DC, the tourism promotion organisation of Washington DC, has been appointed the Chair of Board of Directors for Brand USA for the year 2025.

In a press statement, Brand USA, the destination marketing organisation of the United States, announced the constitution of the new board with two new inductions to the 11-member board.

The statement adds that Ferguson was first appointed to the board in 2022 and most recently served as Treasurer. In addition to Ferguson serving as Chair, he will lead alongside Lauren Bailey as Vice Chair,  Kristen Esposito as Treasurer and Allen Orr as Secretary of the board.

Brand USA has also announced the induction of two new directors to the board, namely  Danny Hughes, President, Americas, Hilton, who will represent Hotel Accommodations in the board and Gus Antorcha, President, Princess Cruises, who will represent Land or Sea Transportation. Additionally, Ferguson, Bailey and past-chair Todd Davidson were all re-appointed to serve second three-year terms.

The statement adds that the 11-member board is appointed by the United States Secretary of Commerce in consultation with the US Secretaries of State and Homeland Security. Each director represents a travel and tourism industry sector and can serve a maximum of two consecutive three-year terms.

We look forward to continuing our close collaboration with Brand USA to advance the goals of the National Travel and Tourism Strategy and bring more international visitors to the United States to drive economic growth and support jobs across the country,” says Alex Lasry, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Travel and Tourism, US Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration.

The statement adds that the new board appointments come as Brand USA sets its sights on achieving the US Department of Commerce’s National Travel and Tourism Strategy goal of receiving 90 million visitors by 2027, which it expects to do one year ahead of schedule, in 2026.

We want the global community to know that the US is welcoming, and we are prioritising all things tied to making travel safe and easy for visitors to come here. I will work with the amazing team at Brand USA to focus on growth opportunities tied to international meetings, the recovery of the Asia market and areas of the world that haven’t been as emphasised. The diversity of our marketing is important from a competitive standpoint as we aim to reflect the US as a welcoming destination with broad appeal,” says Ferguson.

The statement adds that other members of the board include Todd Davidson, Chief Executive Officer, Travel Oregon, to represent State Tourism, Lauren Bailey, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Upward Projects to represent Restaurants, Mike Mangeot, Commissioner, Kentucky Department of Tourism, Tim Mapes, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, Delta Air Lines, Hari Nair, Global SVP & General Manager, Expedia Group and Stephanie Young, President, Disney Vacation Club, Adventures & Expeditions, and Disney Institute for Disney Experiences.
