Luxury hospitality group Belmond, renowned for its luxury trains, has announced plans for what it is calling the first luxury sleeper train in England and Wales.

In a press statement, Belmond says that its latest luxury train, the Britannic Explorer will launch in July 2025, and will offer a choice of three-night journeys between London Victoria and Cornwall, the Lake District and Wales, with the option to combine two journeys into one longer trip.

The statement adds that each service will offer a total of 18 cabins, including three Grand Suites and 15 suites, as well as spa facilities and a restaurant and bar.

Belmond says that trips will cost from GBP 11,000 based on a double cabin, including a three-night itinerary, excursions, meals, wine and alcoholic beverages onboard.

“The train’s cabins feature day-night configurations, ensuite shower cubicles and interiors by London-based studio Albion Nord which combine a colour palette inspired by the breathtaking natural world beyond the expanse of picture-windows, with heritage motifs and playful details,” says Belmond.

The statement adds that the dining experience has been designed by chef Simon Rogan of three Michelin-starred L’Enclume in the Lake District, with each route featuring bespoke afternoon tea, lunch and dinner menus, while the bar has been inspired by Victorian apothecaries and will offer botanically inspired cocktails, artisan gins and craft beers.

Passengers will also have the option to partake in off-train excursions, including a private tour and dinner at Hauser & Wirth Somerset art gallery and on-site restaurant Da Costa, as well as wild swimming in the Lake District and a visit to Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens in Cornwall.

“We are especially delighted to welcome the esteemed Chef Simon Rogan to helm the culinary direction. His vision brings a gastronomic journey that complements the train’s spirit of adventure, celebrating British produce and highlighting the finest local specialties along the route,” Franklin adds.
