For those looking for non-stop celebrations and fetes throughout December could look at Bahrain as an option for a destination to think about. Not only is it the only island destination in the Middle East, making it exotic and in December the weather is simply perfect, but also because celebrations seem the mood of the month here in December.

The celebrations begin on December 16-17 as Bahrain celebrates its National Day and the entire nation joins in the festivities that then last throughout the year. To mark the special moment, Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority has mounted a calendar of events chock-full of festivities throughout December as a part of the Kingdom’s National Holidays Season. According to a press statement, a vast number of events, activities, and celebrations will be part of the festival, which will take place throughout the Kingdom in different cities and settings.

Though Bahrain won independence from the British on August 15, 1971, the country celebrates its national day on December 16 as it is the day the former ruler Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa ascended to the throne. National day is celebrated with great zeal, fervor, pride, and enthusiasm, says the statement.

In honour of Bahrain’s National Day, every year Bahrain International Circuit hosts a spectacular display of colourful fireworks that takes place on December 16.

In addition, a massive celebration will be hosted by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority at the Bahrain International Circuit. The event will take place between December 25 and January 18. With over 45 live performances, an outdoor ice rink, daily live events, and more, Bahrain Festival City will have enough of fun and excitement for everyone to enjoy.

Bahrain National Day will be celebrated at Mall of Dilmunia with live performances, activities, and live cooking as well as holiday-themed décor across the shopping centre. Visitors can enjoy traditional foods like Khanfaroush, Lugaimat, Sambosa, and Kababs as well as a variety of activities including Saaf making, oyster splitting, fire displays, Bahrain aquarium, Leywa Band, and much more as you start with the musical dancing fountain shows with their bright colours.

Adding to the spirit of the season this year is the brand-new Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre in Sakhir that will host this year’s Autumn Fair from December 22-30 in Halls 5 and 6.  The Autumn Fair is the biggest shopping occasion in Bahrain. From handy household items to mouth-watering food stalls, trendy fashion to children’s toys, new products to old favorites, this consumer fair has something for everyone.

In a statement, BTEA says that there is also a marvelous fashion show on the December 15 in Souq Al Baraha where Bahraini designers put together a collection of traditional fashion shows as part of the National Day Fashion Show, which also serves as an exhibition of Bahraini business activities and products.

‘‘In Bahrain, we enjoy starting the New Year off in style and with a lot of sparkle and excitement. Martin Garrix will give the best New Year’s Eve performance this year, and it will be legendary, at Al Dana Amphitheatre on December 31. Prepare for the largest and most amazing firework and drone show extravaganza at Avenues Park on December 31, 2022, commencing at 22:00, if you want to ring in the New Year with a bang,’’ says BTEA.
