With a massive surge of 146 pc since 2023, Vietnam is rapidly solidifying its position as a top destination for Indian travellers with applications on Atlys, the visa processing platform.
According to industry data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism supports this trend, revealing that travel to Vietnam increased by 46 pc year-on-year, with the country receiving 1.2 million Indian tourists in 2023 alone.
In a press statement, Atlys says that this surge in demand is driven by Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and affordable, accessible travel options, supported by its efficient e-visa process and pro-tourism policies.
The statement adds that responding to the growing interest, Atlys is waiving its Vietnam visa application fee on October 21. It says that most of the surge in applications is being driven by Tier 1 metros like Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi.
Solo travellers make up a significant portion of this rise, accounting for 66 pc of visa applications. Group travel, particularly among Gen Z and millennials, has also seen strong growth, with 38 pc of group applications coming from younger demographics.
The statement adds that several factors underpin the increase in Vietnam visa applications. The country’s robust flight connectivity has made it significantly easier for Indian tourists to reach the country.
It says that diverse cities like Ha Long Bay, Ho Chi Minh, and Hanoi offer a range of experiences that cater to every type of traveller.
Vietnam’s tourism appeal spans both budget-conscious backpackers and those seeking luxury, providing flexibility to Indian travellers across socioeconomic backgrounds.
Atlys says that beyond traditional leisure travel, Vietnam is also becoming a top choice for Indian couples planning destination weddings. Cities like Da Nang have seen a marked increase in Indian weddings scheduled for 2024, further contributing to the rise in Indian tourist arrivals.
“Vietnam has emerged as a prime destination offering an unparalleled blend of culture, history, and adventure. Whether you are a solo explorer, a couple, or a group of friends, Vietnam provides an experience like no other,” says Mohak Nahta, CEO, Atlys.
“At Atlys, we are committed to making travel simpler and more accessible, which is why, we’re waiving the Vietnam visa application fee completely on October 21, so travellers can experience the best of Vietnam at a cheaper cost,” he adds.
The statement adds that the country’s highly efficient e-visa process has further contributed to its growing appeal. Travellers can typically secure visa approvals within a week. The e-visa grants a 30-day stay, providing ample opportunities to explore Vietnam’s diverse offerings.
