The largest tourism fair of the Hispanophonic world, FITUR 2025, that is held in Madrid each January, will again put spotlight on the rising use of technology in tourism with its special ‘FITUR Know-How & Export 2025’ that will showcase the latest advances made in the domain.

In a press statement, IFEMA, the organisers of FITUR say that the tourism fair will promote the digitalisation of tourism with the participation of 57 leading companies at the 13th edition of the section which will focus on data spaces, the intelligent destination platform and technological solutions for tourism.

The statement adds that for the second consecutive year, the competition The AI for Tourism Awards 2025 will be held, which will award the best solution based on Artificial Intelligence applied to the sector.

According to IMEX, data spaces, the Intelligent Destination Platform (PID) and the digitalisation of tourism will be the main pillars of the 13th edition, that has been organised by FITUR and SEGITTUR, in collaboration with ICEX Spain Export and Investments, and which will take place within the International Tourism Fair, from January 22 to 26, at IFEMA Madrid.

The section will bring together 57 technological companies distributed in 40 exhibition stands, which will offer innovative solutions for the modernisation of the tourism sector. The proposals will range from hotel digitalisation to smart destination management, positioning technology as a key factor for the development of tourism.

In addition, one of the key events of this space will be the celebration of the second edition of the The AI for Tourism Awards 2025 competition, which will hand out the award for Best AI Solution 2024

The organisers say that companies from all verticals of tourism will compete for this award that values aspects such as technological innovation, usability, improved user experience, originality and the degree of scalability of each proposal.

The programme will include activities and presentations that reflect the strategic role of technology and sustainability in the evolution of the tourism sector.

According to IFEMA, one of the most outstanding projects will be the Intelligent Destination Platform (PID) which, with the support of the Next Generation European Funds, allows tourist destinations to implement technological solutions that improve their sustainability, personalisation and competitiveness. During the fair, cases of destinations and companies that are already adopting these tools to offer more efficient services adapted to the needs of today’s traveller will be presented.

The role of data spaces for tourism will also be one of the key topics to be discussed during the fair. This aspect is presented as a driver of collaboration in the sector, both public and private entities, which aims to use data as a tool for improving decision-making and tourism management. Along with this, sustainability will continue to be a central axis of the programme focused in this edition on the transition of the sector towards a circular economy model and the creation of new agricultural experiences.

Likewise, SEGITTURLAB will create a workshop area where tourism professionals will be able to find a wide range of training. Hotel digitalisation, the impact of sustainability on reservations, the innovative use of virtual visits or the implementation of intelligent tourist signage will be some of the themes of this space.

The statement adds that FITUR Know-How & Export 2025 will strengthen its position as a point of reference for the transformation of the tourism sector, connecting companies, destinations and institutions with the tools and knowledge necessary to lead digitalisation.
