Tourism Cares aims to promote sustainable practices among tourism stakeholders
Tourism Cares, a non-governmental organisation says that it is trying to improve sustainability in tourism and plans to roll out a new travel industry event series called the ‘Meaningful Travel Roadshow.’
According to a press statement, this programme will cover several cities in America and seeks to increase the knowledge of stakeholders in tourism about slow tourism while having a favourable socio-economic impact on the community in the area of the event.
The statement adds the meaningful travel roadshow will begin on May 15-16 at Miami in Florida, then it will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 7 and the last venue will be Galveston, Texas on November 14.

“We are excited to expand our traditional North American meaningful travel summit to a roadshow format and provide more ways for travel professionals to learn about and act on important issues around sustainability, such as cultural preservation, climate change, social equity, and destination stewardship,” says Greg Takehara, CEO, Tourism Cares.
The statement adds that participants will hear from local partners who are leading efforts to make a difference in particular local communities and the travel industry’s working environment as a whole.
“Our Meaningful Travel programmes are different in that we first inspire attendees by engaging them in our education sessions with local changemakers and organisations, and then follow up by activating them through meaningful experiences in the community,” added Takehara.
