Why is Taiwan Tourism participating in Taiwan Expo 2024?

Taiwan Expo is a B2B platform. Its focus is on industrial products from Taiwan. We are participating in the Expo since this year we have a focus on increasing MICE tourism from India to Taiwan. So we have joined this platform to try to connect with the Indian companies who are interested in Taiwan, so that they can consider Taiwan as a destination for their staff or vendors for any incentive tours, or if they are going to Taiwan for a business trip, then they can extend their stay in Taiwan and explore Taiwan as a tourism destination. That is why we are participating in this Expo.

Why is Taiwan focussing on MICE tourism from India?

Before Covid-19, in 2019, more than 40,000 Indians visited Taiwan and most of them had gone for business or for Visiting Friends and Relatives (VFR), but the leisure part is not so much. So, after the pandemic, as we are trying to reconnect with the Indian market, our focus is again on the incentive tours because we think it will be a good place to start from. Also since as I said a lot of Indians go to Taiwan for business, so when the companies think of organising incentive tours, we think that Taiwan might be a great destination for them.

Of course, when we do well in incentive tours, our next step will be to promote family tours because we think a lot of Indian families, they try to find a new destination, especially after Covid-19 and we think Taiwan will be a good choice for them.

Which are the Top 3 activities that Indian travellers must try in Taiwan?

They must visit Taipei because it is the capital of Taiwan and it is a very modern city with a convenient transportation, so it is very easy to travel around Taipei. Of course in Taipei there are not just the modern parts but also a lot of heritage, especially in the Wanhua district, they can feel the change of atmosphere, walking under orchid trees and to experience the tea culture of Taiwan. And the second part is that there are a number of leisure farms in Taiwan and around Taipei. So the families can spend their day over there. While children can play in the farms, the parents can relax.

Also, Taiwan is an island and there is the sea all around us, so it is very easy to go the beach and be by the sea. So I think Taiwan is a good destination for the Indian families.

Also, another important part for some Indian travellers is food and in Taiwan there are a lot of Indian restaurants and also there are a lot of vegetarians too in Taiwan. So, vegetarian restaurants are very easy to find all around the island, so dining is not a problem at all for anyone.

If you want to try cuisines of different countries all over Taiwan, you can try Japanese or Korean cuisine and of course, Chinese. So it is a lot of fun for the Indian travellers.

And looking at travelling within Taiwan and when we focus on the rest of Taiwan, we have a high-speed rail connecting the entire country. So it is very easy to go from the north to the south. You can go from Taipei in the north to Kaohsiung in southwest within 90 minutes.

So, if you have a few days to spend in Taiwan, you can explore all the parts, the North, the South and the Central part to experience the diversity of the country.
