Table Bay Hotel is located on V&A Waterfront, an iconic location in Cape Town
Table Bay Hotel, a landmark hotel at Cape Town in South Africa will close for customers next week as it gears up for a comprehensive renovation.
According to a press statement by Sun International, a South African hospitality firm that owns Table Bay Hotel, the hotel will undergo a renovation programme lasting several months that would see an investment of over ZAR 1 billion (USD 54 million), which will not only refresh the property but also introduce the InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town as the hotel’s new identity upon its reopening later this year.
The statement adds that the rebranding marks the first presence of the InterContinental brand in Cape Town, signalling a new era of luxury accommodation at the Victoria & Albert Waterfront, one of the most upscale neighbourhoods in South Africa.
The statement adds that the refurbishment promises to elevate every aspect of the customer experience while preserving the heritage of the iconic property. The key elements of the renovation include an additional 45 suites, increasing the room count to 306 as well as a new elevated pool bar and terrace with panoramic views.
The renovated hotel will also feature a world-class spa to complement the luxury offerings as well as a state-of-the-art Executive Club Floor and Lounge for InterContinental customers and revamped dining spaces and reception areas.
The statement adds that under the management of Sun International, the Table Bay Hotel has long been a symbol of excellence, and this partnership with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) will take its standards even higher. Upon reopening, guests will benefit from IHG’s renowned service quality and the IHG One Rewards loyalty programme.
The company adds that while the temporary closure may be an adjustment, this investment ensures that the Table Bay Hotel remains at the forefront of luxury hospitality for years to come.
