Outrigger Hospitality Group, a Honolulu-based luxury hotel chain, recently celebrated ‘the Outrigger Way Day’ to honour three decades of its core philosophy.

In a press statement, Outrigger says that its core philosophy ‘the Outrigger Way’ or Ke Ano Waa in Hawaiian, emphasises care for its hosts, visitors and the locations it operates in.

It says that this philosophy is inspired by the late George Kanahele’s teachings and reflects a commitment to preserving the cultural and environmental heritage of the places they call home.

The statement adds that, in a significant move, Outrigger also commemorated its 77th anniversary this year. Founded by Roy and Estelle Kelly in Waikīkī, the company has expanded into a global hospitality brand, with over 30 properties in iconic tropical destinations across Hawaii, the Asia-Pacific region, and the Indian Ocean.

The statement adds that this year’s celebration came with a change, where the annual ‘Founder’s Day’ was rebranded as ‘the Outrigger Way Day.’

According to Sean Dee, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, this shift reflects a renewed commitment to sharing Outrigger’s unique culture of caring, which is deeply rooted in the aloha spirit.

“The Outrigger Way is much more than a business philosophy, it is a lifestyle that honours the relationship between our hosts, our guests and the communities where we operate. This year, as we celebrate both our company’s 77th anniversary and 30 years of the Outrigger Way, we are reminded of how deeply our hosts shape the guest experience. Their care, knowledge and passion reflect the heart and soul of Outrigger and we are proud to honour them alongside the legacy of our founders, Roy and Estelle Kelly,” says Dee.

The statement adds that to commemorate this special day across the globe, all Outrigger resorts and hotels will participate in a series of meaningful activities.

It says that the Outrigger properties will host a series of unique and memorable receptions to honour its visitors. From tropical refreshments to curated cultural experiences, each property celebrates its guests by making them feel truly valued and appreciated, ensuring that their visit is as unforgettable as the destination itself.

The statement adds that behind the scenes, its dedicated hosts will receive a token of gratitude. From heartfelt thank-you gifts to surprise perks, each token is a symbol of appreciation for the hosts who deliver the warm island hospitality that defines Outrigger.

The statement adds that each year throughout the week of September 29, each Outrigger property takes action to give back to the environment and support local communities through a series of hands-on conservation initiatives.

The statement adds that as part of this year’s Outrigger Way Month, the properties have much to celebrate. Three of its Hawai‘i resorts currently hold top rankings on TripAdvisor, with Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel in the top spot, Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort ranking second and Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort at No 5.
