Marriott to debut JW Marriott All-Inclusive resort in Costa Rica

Marriott's expansion in Costa Rica to continue with 15 additional properties

Multinational hospitality company Marriott International has signed an agreement with private equity and asset management firm Mullen Real Estate Capital to launch an all-inclusive JW Marriott resort in Costa Rica, that is expected to join the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio by the spring of 2026.

Aiming to redefine its commitment to provide luxurious experiences to its guests, multinational luxury hospitality company Marriott International has signed an agreement with multi-faceted private equity and asset management firm Mullen Real Estate Capital to launch the JW Marriott brand in Costa Rica.

In a press statement, Marriott says that the resort is set to undergo conversion beginning in July 2025 and is expected to join the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio by the spring of 2026.

“We are thrilled to expand our presence in Costa Rica with the introduction of one of the first JW Marriott all-inclusive resorts. This project marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration with Mullen Real Estate Capital, a pioneer in the all-inclusive sector, within the CALA region,” says Uriel Burak, Marriott International Vice President, Development, Caribbean and Latin America.

It also adds that this resort will be one of the first all-inclusive properties for the brand, as the resort will showcase the brand’s signature focus on mindfulness, refined service and sophisticated design.

Further, Marriott also says that the hotel will be located approximately 78 km from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, consisting of 415 elegantly designed rooms, where guests can enjoy a variety of amenities, which include 11 diverse food, beverage outlets, and  4,088 sq metres of water features, which include 17 swimming pools.

Additionally, aligning with the brand’s wellness philosophy, it also says that the resort will offer a 1,486 sqm spa, a 929 sqm indoor meeting space and a fitness centre.

Aiming to make Costa Rica an ideal destination for travellers, who are seeking an exclusive and luxurious getaway, a  Marriott says that the resort will feature 82 sqm beachfront. Additionally, to enhance the overall experience, it  may introduce branded residences on an adjacent site in the future.

Meanwhile, according to a press statement, Costa Rica has become a popular destination for luxury travellers.

In recent years, Marriott has announced several new developments, including the opening of its 50th luxury hotel in Costa Rica, the Ritz-Carlton Reserve ‘Nekajui,’ in February 2025. Following this, Marriott‘s expansion in the country will continue with 15 additional properties, adding a total of 1,776 rooms and further strengthening Costa Rica’s luxury tourism industry.
