American Hospitality giant Marriott International registers record-breaking growth in Asia Pacific

Luxury hospitality company Marriott International says it has registered strong growth in Asia Pacific excluding China region in 2024, with signing of over 100 deals in the year.

With the signing of a record 109 deals in 11 countries in 2024, American hospitality giant Marriott International says it has registered record-breaking growth in the Asia Pacific Excluding China (APEC) region.

In a press statement, Marriott International says that adding 21,439 rooms to its development pipeline brings the total to 77,532 rooms in the region’s year-end pipeline, a 12 pc year-over-year increase.

The company says that India, Japan and Indonesia have emerged as the highest growth markets accounting for 72 pc of the region’s deal signing.

“2024 was a record-breaking year for Marriott International in APEC, with exceptional growth driven by key development milestones, market expansions, and the introduction of new brands in sought-after destinations,” says Rajeev Menon, President, APEC, Marriott International.

The statement adds that growing the luxury portfolio in the region will remain the key focus, accounting for 19 pc of signed deals. “By enhancing our offerings and entering new markets, we are not only aiming to deliver greater value to owners, franchisees and developers, but also adapting to the evolving needs of today’s travellers, across all stay purposes and experiences,” says Shawn Hill, Chief Development Officer, APEC, Marriott International.

As per the press statement, the company also marked its regional debut in the affordable midscale segment with the launch of Four Points Flex by Sheraton in Japan. Additionally, Marriott International has continued expansion into new destinations like Papua New Guinea.

“As Marriott continues to expand its presence across APEC, we aim to continue broadening our portfolio of best-in-class brands and unforgettable experiences to meet the growing demand for travel,” adds Hill.
