To strengthen its presence in South Asia, Marriott International has launched its Autograph Collection Hotels brand in the region by opening the Soaltee in Kathmandu, Nepal.
In a press statement, Marriott says that this addition marks the arrival of its 19th brand in the region, which includes India, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. The hotel has 285 rooms, including suites, each reflecting the brand’s focus on offering properties with unique narratives. Located in Nepalese capital, the property offers views of the Himalayas, the Swoyambhunath Stupa and landscaped gardens.

It adds that the hotel comprises over 300 independently operated properties globally, each selected for design and location. It also features “the Storyteller,” a curated installation across public areas that incorporates the hotel’s legacy using stories, historic elements and guest contributions.
As per statement, Marriott says that the hotel, located in the Tahachal area, spans 12 acres. This property first opened in 1966, is noted for hosting officials and travellers over several decades. Its interiors feature the use of local elements such as wooden jaalis, exposed bricks and Thangka paintings. Additionally, the rooms contain traditional design elements, which is accompanied by updated amenities and technology.
As per the statement, the hotel has four dining venues including garden terrace for Nepali cuisine, Kakori for Awadhi-Indian dishes, Bao Xuan for Chinese cuisine and a patio for open-air dining, while Rodi bar and the sports lounge serve drinks and provide entertainment.
The American company says that facilities include a spa offering treatments such as hot stone therapy, Shirodhara and traditional Newari massage. Moreover, the property also houses a tennis court, fitness centre and an outdoor pool.
The hospitality company says the hotel offers 2,320 sqm of indoor and outdoor event space. This venue will be used for events and celebrations. Additionally, it also features sustainable features like an in-house water bottling plant, use of solar power, water conservation systems and the sourcing of local materials.
