18-hole golf course will be available: IHG
To increase its presence in Portugal, British multinational hospitality company IHG Hotels & Resorts, has announced the signing of a 309-room dual-branded hotel in Cascais, Portugal, in partnership with Portuguese real estate firm Grupo Onyria.
Onyria Marinha Cascais, Vignette Collection and Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais are set to open between this year and the next.
In a press statement, IHG says that with the growth of its luxury and lifestyle portfolio, it now ranks as the second largest in the world. It also adds that with the addition of these properties, which include six operational hotels and eight in the pipeline, it aims to increase its presence in Portugal.
IHG adds that Kimpton Atlântico Algarve, Kimpton Lisbon, Convent Square Lisbon, Vignette Collection, and Casa da Companhia Hotel & Spa, Vignette Collection are some of its upcoming openings. These properties will join the recently signed Six Senses Comporta, which is set for 2028, and Hotel Indigo Albufeira, which is expected in the first half of this year.
According to the statement, the hotels are located in Quinta da Marinha in a secluded area within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, offering views of the Atlantic Ocean. The site is near sandy beaches, local shops, and restaurants, with Lisbon International Airport less than a 30-minute drive away.
“We have worked diligently to build a strong luxury and lifestyle reputation in Portugal in recent years, in order to strengthen our footprint in the country and seize opportunities for growth in secondary markets and popular destinations. We look forward to building on the success of Onyria Marinha Cascais as we welcome the hotel to our IHG portfolio as part of our Vignette Collection. This exciting dual branded proposition also sees us bring the beloved Kimpton brand to Cascais and together we will offer guests two distinctive, yet complementary brands from our diverse brand portfolio,” says Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts.
IHG adds that the 111-room Onyria Marinha Cascais, Vignette Collection will feature two restaurants, a bar and 10 event spaces. It also says that guests will have access to outdoor pools, a Tennis & Padel Club, a Horse-Riding Centre, and a hunting lodge venue. The hotel will also offer an indoor pool and a wellness spa with massage rooms, sauna, hammam and showers.
“Grupo Onyria are pioneers in luxury tourism in the Cascais region, and have been shaping its hospitality landscape for over 40 years, offering unrivalled knowledge of the area. Our collective expertise ensures both properties will present a compelling proposition to today’s traveller with choice to suit every stay, underpinned with all the benefits of IHG One Rewards. We are thrilled to partner with them and look forward to creating unforgettable experiences for our guests,” adds Geels.
Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais will include 198 rooms, including ten suites, along with a spa featuring three massage rooms, a sauna, a hammam, and Vichy showers.
IHG says that an 18-hole golf course will be available. Aiming to cater to both leisure and business travellers, the property will also feature 12 conference rooms and a lake house venue for gatherings.
Meanwhile, as per IHG, Onyria Marinha Cascais, Vignette Collection, will be part of its first collection brand, which preserves each property’s unique identity.
Launched in 2021, the Vignette Collection aims to reach 100 hotels by 2030 and has already surpassed the halfway mark within three years.
“The speed at which luxury hotels can be converted to meet the needs of the modern traveller is one of the key factors that lead to our partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts. Onyria Marinha Cascais, Vignette Collection and Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais are both unique in their own right, with designs that draw inspiration from their picturesque surroundings. We believe that IHG’s brands align perfectly with our vision to retain their rich cultural heritage, whilst offering authentic, one-of-a-kind experiences,” says Joao Pinto Coelho, Chief Commercial Officer, Grupo Onyria.
