Hyatt has launched the first Caribbean location in Santo Domingo, which promises to bring cultural design, local cuisine and versatile event spaces in the heart of Ensanche Piantini.

American multinational hospitality firm Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo, marking the debut of Hyatt Centric brand in the Caribbean.

In a press statement, Hyatt says that its new property is located in the Ensanche Piantini neighbourhood and this lifestyle hotel is designed to draw in business and leisure travellers alike looking to experience both the historical and modern attractions of Santo Domingo.

The statement adds that just a short distance from the UNESCO World Heritage Colonial Zone, the hotel offers a central location for exploring the city’s rich history, iconic landmarks and shopping and dining scene.

“Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo’s prime location offers a launchpad for modern travellers to connect with the best of what the city has to offer,” says Luis Emilio Gomez Garcia, General Manager, Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo.

With 130 guestrooms and suites, the hotel’s modern and contemporary design is inspired by the work of Dominican artist, Thimo Pimentel, visible through art and ceramic installations using a terracotta red, white, and black colour palette. The use of natural materials and colourful wooden sculptures by local artist, Patricio Correa.

Hyatt says that while the guestrooms feature custom ceramic pieces inspired by Pimentel and Antillean culture, common areas showcase artwork that highlights the energy and spirit of Santo Domingo, including sculptures depicting fish, figurative bust figures and carnival masks.

The statement adds that Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo’s culinary landscape, home to four dining venues including Aon Food and Mood that remixing island and international flavours with locally sourced ingredients.

The hotel’s 130 rooms and suites are designed by Dominican artist Thimo Pimentel, featuring modern design elements inspired by the Antillean culture, as well as sculptures by Patricio Correa that highlight Dominican artistic expression.

The statement adds that Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo also features 1205 sqm of event space, including a panoramic 11th-floor terrace with views of Piantini, also caters to weddings, corporate events and gatherings.

Amenities include a rooftop pool and a 24-hour fitness centre, rounding out the hotel’s appeal for both relaxation and productivity.

“As the first Hyatt Centric branded property in the Dominican Republic, we look forward to crafting memorable experiences for guests and offering a gateway to Piantini’s culture, historic landmarks, attractions and more,” Garcia adds.

The statement adds that to commemorate the opening, World of Hyatt members can earn 500 Bonus Points for eligible stays at the hotel through January 31, 2025.
