Leading Thai hospitality brand, Dusit Hotels & Resorts unveiled its latest property, dusitD2 Maldives, at an exclusive event held in New Delhi on Monday. This marks the group’s second property in the Maldives.

Veerasamy shared that the property is located just a seven-minute drive from the airport

The event, attended by over 80 Indian travel industry stakeholders, commenced with a concise yet informative presentation highlighting the key features of the new resort, which is scheduled to open its doors to customers later this year in August. The presentation was delivered by Yogeswaran Veerasamy, General Manager, dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives.

Veerasamy shared that the 127-room property is located just a seven-minute drive from Malé International Airport, in a no-flight zone. “This ensures peace of mind for our guests, as there will be no seaplanes or other aircraft flying overhead,” he explained.

In addition to three stunning lagoons, seven room categories and five dining outlets, the resort will also feature one of the largest convention halls in the Maldives which can accommodate up to 250 guests, catering to the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) segment.

In a conversation with India Outbound, Rifaa Ath Saeed, Cluster Director of Sales & Distribution, Dusit Thani Maldives & dusitD2 Maldives emphasised the importance of the Indian outbound market for Dusit’s properties in the Maldives. While visitor numbers are still recovering and have not yet reached 2023 levels, the team remains optimistic about stronger footfall in the coming year.

“India has been a very key market for us. We work with very close partners such as TBO who is helping us out with the event. So in general, the Indian market has always been in top 10 markets for Dusit Thani,” Saeed tells India Outbound.

“I do not think we have bounced back from the numbers that we have been able to get in 2023. I think there was a little bit of a dip from Indian market to the destination itself. And still we are trying to catch up to the same level as what it was in 2023. But I think now we see a positive face coming into the resort also for the destination. So hopefully we will have the same numbers in coming months,” she adds.

Following the presentation, Saeed gave a brief update on the group’s existing luxury property in the Maldives, Dusit Thani Maldives. Dusit will also host similar roadshows in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
