Singaporean luxury hotel brand Capella Hotels and Resorts has announced its first resort and the second property in Taiwan, the Capella Kenting.
In a press statement, Capella says that Capella Kenting is set to open to visitors in 2028 and is anticipated to elevate the region to new heights on the global tourism stage.
“Luxury travel today is centred on personalisation and immersive local experiences. Travellers seek journeys that nourish and harmonise the body, mind, and soul, making each trip both enriching and unforgettable. Capella Kenting will embody these principles, and we are excited to collaborate with Riant Capital Limited and its subsidiary Win Full to bring an entirely new experience to our loyal and new guests,” says Cristiano Rinaldi, President, Capella Hotel Group.
Capella says that its partnership with Riant Capital has emerged from sharing a vision and recognising the future potential of Kenting, as underscored by its rich tourism resources and news channel CNN’s recognition of Kenting as one of Asia’s top ten underrated tourist destinations.
“Introducing leading international hotel brands is crucial for showcasing Taiwan globally. We are thrilled to partner with Capella Group, renowned for crafting luxury travel experiences. This collaboration promises to significantly elevate Kenting and Taiwan’s global presence,” says Aaron Chan, Chairman of Riant Capital.
The statement adds that Capella Kenting is located on a 99,000 sqm plot along the western coastline of Taiwan’s Hengchun Peninsula in Pingtung and was designed by Italian architects Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel.
The statement adds that the duo have weaved in touches such as low walls made of stacked stones, an element commonly found in the region’s tribal houses to keep the local touch, connecting visitors to the serenity of Kenting’s azure blue ocean.
Capella says that with only 65 exclusive villas, the low-density resort is designed to secure privacy and tranquillity. The property is said to have the largest hotel rooms in Taiwan, with spacious accommodations starting at 197 sqm.
Each villa will also be equipped with a private swimming pool, hot spring facilities and 180-degree sea view, allowing visitors to soak in the serene beauty of the coastline and savour spectacular sunsets from the comfort of their rooms.
“The design concept revolves around the special connection and relationship between the hotel and the ocean. Guests will be able to fully immerse themselves in boundless sea views and irreplaceable natural experiences,” say Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, Founders of ACPV Architects.
“In our design, we have combined traditional craftsmanship with construction techniques to promote local characteristics. For instance, the design of the resort incorporates signature elements of the local aboriginal culture, such as low walls stacked with stones. This approach not only strengthens the connection between design and culture but also minimises our visual impact on the natural landscape,” adds Viel.
The statement adds that this offering will blend traditional southern Taiwanese wellness practices with Capella’s signature lunar phase-specific therapies, providing a deeply immersive and restorative experience. Kenting’s serene atmosphere will further enrich the resort’s well-being offerings.
