Capella Hotels and Resorts, a luxury hotel chain in Singapore, is set to make its European debut with the launch of Capella Florence in 2027.

In a press statement, Capella says that located in Florence, just moments from Piazza della Libertà and Duomo, this property promises to be a landmark addition to the city’s storied landscape.

The statement adds that the new hotel will occupy a site steeped in history, originally home to the convents of Sant’Agata, San Clemente and Santa Lucia di Camporeggi, with roots tracing back to the 12th century. The site has witnessed centuries of artistic and cultural activity, including hosting notable artists and serving as a military hospital.

“Capella Florence represents a natural evolution of our vision, bringing the Capella experience to a city where culture, history and artistry are deeply ingrained in everyday life,” says Cristiano Rinaldi, President, Capella Hotel Group.

“In a destination as rich and layered as Florence, we are honoured to collaborate with a world-renowned architect and interior designer who share our dedication to crafting spaces that respect local history while creating meaningful connections for today’s luxury traveller. It is a privilege to be entrusted with the renewal of this historic part of Florence’s cultural and communal heritage,” Rinaldi adds.

According to the statement, Capella Florence will restore these heritage buildings while introducing visionary architecture from acclaimed Italian firms RPA and De Vita and Schulze, with interiors by the esteemed French design house Liaigre.

It adds that Capella Florence will feature 89 keys, comprising 33 suites, 56 rooms and 10 exclusive residences with private entrances. The property will also house two restaurants, one celebrating local Tuscan cuisine and the other offering Japanese sushi omakase.

Capella says that customers can enjoy a rooftop bar, a subterranean speakeasy wine vault and Capella’s signature Living Room.

Additionally, the highlight of the hotel will be a separate Clubhouse, home to a 600 sqm Capella Spa with a hydro pool, fitness centre and café. An indoor amphitheatre will honour the site’s 800-year-old legacy of creativity and cultural exchange.
