Anantara launches second luxury railway carriage in Vietnam

The five-hour journey meanders through the picturesque Vietnamese countryside

With an array of opulent amenities, upscale hotel chain Anantara has launched Vietage by Anantara, its second railway carriage that will travel through some of Vietnam’s most picturesque locales between Nha Trang and Quy Nhon.

Luxury hotel group, Anantara, that is part of Bangkok-based Minor Hotels, has announced the launch of its second luxury railway carriage that provides a daily return journey between Nha Trang and Quy Nhon in Vietnam.

In a press statement, Anantara says that this second carriage comes on the heels of success of the existing carriage that runs every day between Da Nang and Quy Nhon. The new carriage, called Vietage by Anantara will depart from Nha Trang every afternoon arriving at Dieu Tri station in Quy Nhon in the evening.

The statement says that the train then continues up to Da Nang arriving after midnight. Running in the opposite direction, the carriage departs from Da Nang every morning, arriving at Dieu Tri station in Quy Nhon in the early afternoon and then onto Nha Trang for a mid-evening arrival.

Anantara says that the new custom-designed addition will connect the renowned coastal city of Nha Trang served by Cam Ranh International Airport, offering timeless luxury travel experiences through South-Central Vietnam.

It says that the new addition is an addition to slow and sustainable travel trend, as the five-hour journey meanders through the picturesque Vietnamese countryside while transporting guests into a world of glamour and nostalgia with all the comforts of modern luxury.

The statement adds that the train has 12 reservation-only seats in private booths of two that blend sleek modern interiors with inspiration from Indochina, along with big picture windows to admire the stunning views.

It also features a sit-up bar on-board that create rail-inspired cocktails and mocktails and a spa area for 15-minute head and shoulder treatments on the go.

The culinary experiences include a curated afternoon tea, poached Bai Dai Lobster, Da Lat Caviar to whet the appetite, a tea tower with selection of home-made finger sandwiches, pastries, cakes and traditional scones, an artisanal cheese and charcuterie platter and a dedicated vegan menu, among others.

Onboard culinary refreshments feature distinctive tea selection from the Vietnamese tea brand Epicurean Sao, local coffee from La Folliet, wines, cocktails, beers, mocktails and soft drinks. An à la carte menu also offers premium wines and champagnes for pre-order while caviar fans can purchase extra portions on board, the statement adds.

The hotel group says that passengers can also catch a glimpse of water buffalo, Vietnam’s national animal, as the train makes its way through the country’s landscape, along with a plethora of lotus ponds, rice paddies and plenty of flora and fauna along the stretches of coastline fronting the East Sea and expansive bays.

Anantara says that the journey then heads inland into the mountainous province of Phú Yên, which is home to one of the country’s Champa people communities and many historical points of interest. Vietnam’s longest wooden bridge, Bình Thạnh Bridge that is 800 m long, is a gateway to some other local notable landmarks.

The statement adds that guests travelling from Nha Trang to Quy Nhon train can enjoy combination accommodation experiences with Anantara Quy Nhon Villas for a luxury beachside retreat Anantara Hoi An Resort.

The statement adds that a one-way ticket aboard the Vietage by Anantara between Nha Trang and Quy Nhon costs USD 420 per person.
