The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival (MFWF) has announced a 10-day programme from March 15 to 25, 2024, packed with adventures in eating and drinking all over Melbourne/Narrm. MFWF programme is jam-packed, featuring over 300 events across the city and surrounding suburbs, with Federation Square serving as the festival’s epicentre.

According to a press statement by Tourism Australia, the national tourism board, MFWF 2024 will begin with the return of festival favourites. This includes the ‘world’s longest lunch’, led by Andrew McConnell, one of the Australia’s most lauded culinary talents, while the ‘world’s longest brunch’ will be presented by Cocobella, with new-wave Indian food champions Harry Mangat, Helly Raichura and Mischa Tropp, the celebrity-inspired sausage sizzle, a massive Global Dining Series and more.

Following the success of its 2023 activations, Melbourne Food and Wine Festival will again be hosted at the city’s cultural hub, Fed Square. All day and into the night, Fed Square will become a magnet for food-loving Melburnians and visitors, says the board.

The festival will kick off with the world’s longest lunch on Friday March 15. This dining experience in Kings Domain will stretch over 600 metres long, where guests can meet other Melbourne foodies and indulge in matched wines, light entertainment, and a three-course menu designed by Andrew McConnell.

The statement adds that the World’s Longest Brunch will be presented in Kings Domain on Saturday March 16. This flavoursome adventure will feature three courses from new-wave Indian food champions Harry Mangat of Biji Dining, Helly Raichura of Enter Via Laundry and Mischa Tropp of Toddy Shop.

Culinary talent from all around the world will collaborate with Melbourne bars and restaurants as part of the Global Dining Series. Baker’s Dozen, Celebrity Sausage, Dan’s Diner, the Pizza Sessions, the Festival Stage and more such local as well as global culinary masters will deck the halls during the event.

The board adds that tickets to the event will be available from February 1, 2024.
