Summer season 2024 is on in Courchevel, a French Alps ski resort located in the Tarentaise Valley. It is a part of Les Trois Vallées, the largest linked ski areas in the world. 

In a press statement, Courchevel Tourisme says that the warm slopes of summer sun transform the destination into a playground for adventurers seeking adrenaline-pumping experiences amidst stunning alpine scenery. It goes on list key activities for visitors during this period.

White water rafting

Feel the rush of the river when navigating through exhilarating rapids surrounded by breathtaking mountain views. The board says that Courchevel’s pristine waters provide the perfect setting for an appealing rafting adventure, for both seasoned or a first-time rafters. 

Canyoning and rafting in Courchevel during the mountain break in Savoie is a perfect summer action, and thus a must-do activity. These water-based activities are perfect for those who love thrills and white water, whether jump into the pools, slide down natural slides and abseil down waterfalls. Visitors can experience inflatable boat while rafting with in the most beautiful rivers and rapids in the Alps.

Mountain biking

With 145 km of mountain bike downhill endurance and e-bike trails, the joys of cycling and mountain biking in Courchevel is a popular activity. Pedal along roads and climb mountain passes to reach breathtaking panoramic views. The board says that mountain bikers will be delighted by the mountain trails and picturesque views around them. There are a variety of mountain biking itineraries to suit all levels. 

Nature Walks

According to the statement, the area is also full of unique nature walks. The Grand Plan Mountain refuge is the perfect place to spend a moment suspended in time. It is not just a trek but a soul stirring union with nature It can be reached on foot crossing the unspoilt nature of the sublime Avals valley, without a building in sight, on the edge of the Vanoise National Park, it adds. 

For those seeking a simpler retreat, the Lacs Merlet Mountain refuge stands as a beacon of rustic charm. With its humble facade resembling a classic alpine hut, it shelters adventurers in its cosy confines. Spending a night here is a relaxing change of scenery to rediscover the slow pace of life. 

Via Ferrata

Via Ferrata in the Alps is a coveted mountain activity for experiencing new thrills. Thrill-seekers will love the exposed Via Ferrata trail at an elevation of around 3000 m. The Croix des Verdons Via Ferrata requires stamina and nerves of steel, as the route is high and quite exposed but offers breathtaking views. The ascent covers a 225 m cumulated elevation gain in a 3-hour climb, to finally arrive at an altitude of 2,738 metres, which offers impressive view of the highest peaks of the Vanoise and the Mont Blanc range. 

Head to the Via Ferrata at Lac de la Rosière, where travellers get the opportunity to cross a magnificent Nepalese bridge. The most experienced climbers can go to the Croix des Verdons, the highest Via Ferrata in France. For lesser adventure-seekers, Courchevel offers Via Cordata, an activity halfway between Via Ferrata and rock climbing in the mountains.

Rock Climbing

According to Courchevel Tourisme, for fans of rock climbing, the Praméruel rock face is the ideal climbing spot for beginners. At an elevation of 2,000 m, it offers shade for a pleasantly cool climb even in the height of summer. The site can be reached via a vehicle track and there is a parking just 200 m from the foot of the cliff. None of the routes exceed 40 metres on this limestone rock face which helps novices to achieve a sense of security. 

Indoor Climbing for kids

Courchevel has adventure activities for the little ones as well. There are indoor climbing facilities at the Aquamotion Centre, where there is children’s pool, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, diving pool, water slides, climbing wall and adult’s only spa area with whirlpool baths, saunas, hammam, Scottish shower and outdoor pools.

With the summer season lasting until the end of September, there will be more than enough time for guests to take in the vistas and exhilarating quests of Courchevel, says the board.
