In 2024, travel experienced a remarkable resurgence, with reports showing a 96 pc recovery to pre-pandemic levels. Whether for major global events like the Olympics or Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, or simply the desire to explore new destinations and unwind, travellers flocked to cities and countries across the world.

As a result, the travel industry saw an unprecedented surge in footfall, with many destinations reaching record-breaking numbers.

As we close out the year, world’s leading search engine Google has revealed its most searched travel destinations, offering a glimpse into the cities and destinations that captured the world’s interest. If you have not yet explored these top spots, they could serve as the perfect inspiration for your 2025 travel plans!

In the first place this year was Tenerife, the stunning capital of the off the beaten Spanish islands, the Canary Islands. Whether you are nature lover, an adventure enthusiast, a history geek or even a laid back traveller who prefers to just sun-bathe at a beach, this island has it all.
