Africa Travel Week (ATW) a leading travel and tourism event, has announced the 2025 WTM Africa Responsible Tourism Awards, with submissions open until March 19, 2025.

Africa’s tourism industry has long been a key player in the global effort to embrace sustainability. To highlight the region’s commitment to responsible tourism practices, Africa Travel Week has announced the launch of the ‘2025 WTM Africa Responsible Tourism Awards’, which has called for entries, with nominations closing March 19, 2025.

In a press statement, ATW says that the ‘2025 WTM Africa Responsible Tourism Awards’ will feature six categories, namely  ‘All-Inclusive Tourism’, ‘Adapting to Climate Change’, ‘Increasing Local Sourcing’, ‘Peace & Understanding’, ‘Managing Waste and Nature’ and ‘Positive Travel’.

It adds that the awards will be judged by a panel led by Dr Harold Goodwin, Managing Director, Responsible Tourism Partnership and adviser to WTM Africa for the awards. The statement adds that winners will be announced at WTM Africa on April 10, 2025, with gold winners advancing to the global awards.

The statement adds that entry is free, with businesses required to submit case studies showcasing measurable impact and innovative responsible tourism approaches.
