World Culinary Awards, an initiative to recognise and reward excellence in the culinary industry, announces the nominees for its 3rd annual programme.

As in the previous two editions, the nominees for the 3rd World Culinary Awards also cover a wide range of the industry, from culinary destinations and hotel restaurants to training institutions and landmark restaurants. The organisers say that for each travel region/continent, there are seven main categories of nominees and two categories of nominees for each country in that region, making for hundreds of nominations in all. The entire list of nominees is available here.

The voting for this year’s awards will open on June 7 and will run until August 31, the organisers say, adding that during the voting window, both industry professionals and culinary consumers are invited to vote for the brands they consider the very best of the best. Also, the organisations still wishing to enter this year’s programme still have time to submit their application for consideration. Entry is free of charge. “We are delighted to reveal the 2022 nominations for our 3rd annual World Culinary Awards programme. The culinary industry has bounced back strongly after the challenges of the past two years and it is encouraging to see the exceptional quality of entrants received this year. We look forward to seeing strong interest and support from the culinary community once voting gets underway,” says Rina van Staden, Director, World Culinary Awards.

Incidentally, winners of 2021 edition include the host of Expo2020 – Dubai – that was named ‘World’s Best Culinary Destination’ for its tantalising range of gastronomy from across the globe. Dubai’s Pierre’s Bistro @ InterContinental Dubai Festival City was named ‘World’s Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant’, whilst the ground-breaking seasonal cuisine of Noma helped the Danish restaurant to lift ‘World’s Best Restaurant’. Fine dining in a spectacular setting in the world’s tallest skyscraper helped At.Mosphere Burj Khalifa to collect ‘World’s Best Landmark Restaurant’.

Portugal’s Vila Joya Restaurant was crowned ‘World’s Best Hotel Restaurant’. In the newcomer category, the Andalusian flair of BiBo Doha won the title for ‘World’s Best New Restaurant’ and Jamaica Food & Drink Festival took the title for ‘World’s Best Culinary Festival’.

The results followed a year-long search for the world’s leading culinary brands. Votes were cast by culinary industry professionals and the general public, with the nominee gaining the most votes in a category named as the winner.

Other winners from 2021 include Zuma (‘World’s Best Restaurant Brand’), Odette, Singapore (‘Asia’s Best Restaurant’), Le Cordon Bleu Paris (‘World’s Best Culinary Training Institution’), La Colombe, South Africa (‘Africa’s Best Restaurant’) and Peru (‘Latina America’s Best Culinary Destination’).
