Jamaica will serve as the host to the World Free Zones Organization’s 8th Annual International Conference & Exhibition (AICE) 2022, which is scheduled to be held from June 13 to 17 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in the northern resort city.

This is the first time that the AICE will be held in the Caribbean island nation, and Jamaica is set to step into the spotlight on this global economic stage. Over 1,500 persons from about 140 countries have confirmed to attend the programme.

At the conference, Jamaica, and Montego Bay in particular, will be at the focus for discussions surrounding the future of supply chains and free zones, legal issues concerning developments in global & regional trade, new technologies and emerging trends.

According to Jamaica’s Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, the five-day event themed, Zones: Your Partner for Resilience, Sustainability and Prosperity, will bring together world-class speakers, global free zone practitioners, policy makers, multi-lateral organisations and business representatives, to exchange ideas, experiences and visions for creating a more integrated global trade and business environment.

Just a few days ago, Bartlett along with Director of Tourism, Donovan White, had met with World Free Zones Organization (WFZO), Chairman, Mohammed Al Zarooni, in Dubai during the recently-concluded Arabian Travel Market.

At the meeting, they had discussed conference activities, as well as building support and sustainability for the cruise sector in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

In addition to the meeting at this year’s ATM, Minister Bartlett had also announced the recent tie-up with Emirates Airlines, one of the largest airlines in the Middle East, that has recently started flights to Jamaica. This airlift arrangement has opened gateways from the Middle East, Asia and Africa to Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean.
